Thomas " Tj" Bentley Jr., 90, of McArthur, Ohio, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at his home on Wednesday, October 6, 2021, after fighting a battle with colon cancer. He was born in Martin, Floyd Co., Kentucky, May 13, 1931, to the late Tom and Grace Bradley Bentley. He married Mary ( Caudill ) Bentley December 15, 1956. He served as a medic in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, mowing yards, horseback riding, sitting around the horse camp and sharing stories of his past and of his family. Throughout his life he provided for his family by working at Kinners Manufacturing of Columbus, being self employed in the timber business, being a truck driver for McCort Trucking,and retiring from McArthur Trucking. After retirement, he did yard work for several people in the McArthur area. He will be greatly missed by all. Surviving is his wife of 64 years, Mary; three sons : Virgil Wayne ( Tammy ) Bentley of Gallipolis, Bryan ( Cindy) Bentley of McArthur, and Shane Thomas ( Stacy) Bentley of Jackson; two daughters: Rhonda ( Tim ) Lambert and Judy ( Jeff) Huff-Harper both of McArthur; grandchildren : Brandon ( Amber ) Bentley, Zach Bentley, Timothy ( Tj) ( Thelma ) Lambert Jr., Kelly ( Chuck) Lambert, Aaron ( Stephanie ) Lambert, Michael Huff, Nathan ( Kara ) Huff, Jeffery ( Angie ) Harper Jr., Jerrod ( Ashley ) Harper, Judy ( Jason) Johnson, Mallory, Elijah, Jordyn, and Adalyn Bentley, and Lilly Dowler; 20 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; a brother, James Bentley and sister-in-law, Sarah Bentley; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Tony Randell; son-in-law, Terry Huff; siblings: Asbury ( Lexie) Bentley, Desley ( Pluma ) Bentley, Pokie ( Jim ) Lewis, William ( Edith ) Bentley, Green ( Rosie) Bentley, Violet ( Ed ) Smathers, Stella ( James ) Bare, Margie ( Cecil) Daft, and Claude Bentley; and inlaws, Virgil and Dellie Caudill. Family and friends may call at the Calvary Assembly of God Church in McArthur on Friday from 4 to 8 P.M. Services will be Saturday at 11 A.M. at the church with Pastor Carl Radcliff officiating. Following the funeral service, "Tj" will be laid to rest in the Elk Cemetery with military honors by McArthur Memorial Post #5299. Pallbearers : Tj Lambert, Brandon Bentley, Aaron Lambert, Elijah Bentley, Jacob Scarberry, Zach Bentley, Joseph Lambert ,and Hunter Lambert.
