Steve Thomas, age 64, of Hamden, Ohio, passed away peacefully, while surrounded by his family, on Sunday, March 25, 2018, at his home. He was born at Travis Air Force Base near Fairfield, California, on June 15, 1953, to the late Donald and Beverley Thistlewood Thomas. He was a 1970 graduate of Augsburg High School in Germany and earned an industrial engineering degree in 1975 from the University of Arkansas. He was a former employee of the Austin Powder Company. Along with his wife of 39 years, Linda Claar Thomas, he owned and operated Thomas Guns and the Pit Stop Carryout in Hamden, and until 2013, McArthur Auto Parts. He was a member of Black Diamond Lodge #538 and attended the Hamden United Methodist Church. He enjoyed hunting in his spare time. Besides his wife, he is survived by three sisters, Mary Thomas and Susan ( Jerry) Ausec of Colorado, and Kelley ( Ken ) Coleman; mother-in-law, Ruth Claar, of Hamden; brother-in-law, Mike ( Mary) Claar, of Hamden; nieces and nephews: Mindy Coleman, Chris Ausec and his son, Troy, Angie Knox, Melissa Hendershott, Michael Claar, and Adam Claar; and numerous great nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be Wednesday at 11 A.M. at the Mt. Zion Cemetery, Vinton County Rd. 37, with Pastor Dan Smith officiating. The family suggests memorials in Steve's memory be made to the animal charity of your choice.
