Shirley Allen

Shirley E. Allen, 81, passed away on Tuesday, August 10, 2021; at Oakwood Community Health Center, Jackson, Ohio. She was born on November 22, 1939, in Vinton County, Ohio, to the late Russell D. Mercer and Grace Hutt Mercer. She was a graduate of Allensville High School. She retired following 30 years as a supply buyer at the old Medical Center Hospital and the new Adena Regional Medical Center in Chillicothe. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Sonny Allen,on November 8, 2015, and a daughter, Debbie Sue. She is survived by two grandchildren, Zachariah and Jeremiah Doyle and several great grandchildren; her close cousin, Rosemary Harbarger, of Logan, Ohio; three brothers-in-law : Larry Allen of Westerville, Ohio, John Allen of Sun City, Florida, and Ronnie Allen of Oak Hill; and all of her friends and staff at Oakwood. Friends may call at the Jenkins Funeral Chapel in Wellston on Tuesday from 12 to 1 P.M.
