Maxine Ruth ( Day ) Spearry, 95, formerly of Coalton, Ohio, went to be with our Lord on Thursday morning, October 1, 2020, in Hamilton, Ohio. She was born to the late Homer and O'Leana James Day on November 1, 1924, in Wellston, Ohio. She married the love of her life, WWII veteran Franklin " Duke" Spearry on December 22, 1940. Besides her parents, Homer Day and Lena Humphreys, she was also preceded in death by her cherished only child, Judy Spearry Jordan, her stepfather, Harry ( Shorty) Humphreys, and her sweet dog, Teddy. Maxine was a tiny woman with a huge heart, caring and bestowing to all her family. She will be remembered as the keeper of the family history, for her tenacious spirit, for growing beautiful African violets, for her unique sense of humor and care giving, for killing a snake that invaded her home when she was in her 80's, and for driving to town and then using her little red wagon to get the items to her house. She was a wonderful cook, particularly noted at the holidays for her oyster dressing and her coconut cream pie. Always having a positive attitude, when life gave her lemons, she got on with making lemonade without a complaint. She will be remembered for her strength and reliance on her Lord Jesus Christ from whom she drew great comfort, and for her love and many stories, that no matter how many times you heard them, they made you feel happy, sad, or just connected to this amazing, strong, loving group of people known as family. Maxine's love and the examples she set are already missed as we take comfort that she is in the presence of the One who loves her most. She leaves behind her son-in-law, Norman Jordan; brothers Donald ( Rhonda ) Humphreys and Ronald ( Betty ) Humphreys; much loved sister, Jeanne ( Nick ) Nicholson; grandchildren Roger ( Shari) Tackett and Diedra Armenta; great grandchildren Roger ( Denessa ) Tackett Jr., Hilary ( Tim ) Davidson, and Jordan Armenta; four precious great-great grandchildren; and a multitude of cherished nieces and nephews, whom up until recently, she remembered them by sending cards on their birthdays. The family invites friends to call at the Jenkins Funeral Chapel in Wellston on Sunday from 12 P.M. until the time of services at 2 P.M. Pastor Richard Moore will officiate the services, and burial will follow in the Ridgewood Cemetery in Wellston.
