Mary Marcum

Mary Margaret Marcum, 92, of Creola, Ohio, went peacefully on Sunday, July 17, 2016, with her family at her side at Maple Hills Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in McArthur. She was born June 4, 1924, in Mingo County, West Virginia, to the late Lawyer and Eliza Gilman Deskins. She was a homemaker and enjoyed quilting in her spare time. She attended the Old Regular Baptist Church. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John, in 1998; her daughter, Paula McCathren; and eight siblings. Surviving are three daughters, Phyllis Vanover of Lancaster, Ohio, Margaret Stapleton ( Tommy) of Creola, and Helen Lehman ( Ben) of Chillicothe; a son-in-law, Chuck McCathren, of McArthur; eight grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren, neices, and nephews. The family will receive friends at the Jenkins Funeral Chapel in Wellston on Wednesday from 12 P.M. until the time of services at 2 P.M. Jerry Runyon will officiate the services with burial to follow in the Fairview Cemetery.
