Martha Newman Graves

Martha Newman Graves , 91, of McArthur, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday morning, March 22, 2023, at Adena Regional Medical Center in Chillicothe. She was born in Wellston, Ohio, on April 16, 1931, to the late George Newman and Dorothy Norris Newman. She graduated from Wellston High School as Salutatorian of her class. She was a former employee of the Milton Bank, the Vinton County National Bank, and Hocking Collge, where she worked for ten years. She participated in bowling leagues in the 1960's and 1970's, loved to read, and golfed and boated on the Ohio River with her late husband, Bill Graves, who died May 22, 2011. She is survived by her daughter, Debbie Mercer, her granddaughter, Audra Mercer Wright ( Rob ), and her grandson, Douglas Mercer, all of McArthur; her sister, Mary Louise Willis, of Orlando, Florida; and nieces , nephews, and cousins. Besides her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her brother, William Newman. A private burial will take place in Elk Cemetery in McArthur on Sunday, March 26th.
