Hurley Ed Rife

Hurley " Ed " Rife, 72, of Wellston, Ohio passed away on Tuesday evening, November 12, 2024, at Holzer Medical Center in Jackson while surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Meigs County, Ohio on September 1, 1952, to the late Hurley Wayne Rife and Mildred L. Cleland Rife.He was married on December 6, 2016, to Anna Marks Rife, who survives.He began an interest in working with anything mechanical at an early age while helping at Belcher's Body Shop. He was employed as a manager for Queen City Terminal in Cincinnati and worked there until he was accidentally blinded at age 42. Although he became totally blind, he just didn't give up and sit around the house but continued to do mechanical work on cars, lawn mowers, weed eaters, and much more that absolutely amazed his family and everyone who met him. He attended the Glen Roy Community Church when able to do so, and time and get togethers spent with his family were his greatest joys in life. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers : Arnold Ray Rife, Charles " Pokey " Wayne Rife Sr., and Terry Lee Rife; a sister, Shirley Rife Anderson; and his close brother-in-law, Joey Marks. Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Tammy Rife, of Wellston; a son, Chris Cox ( Crissy ) of Wellston; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren;  a sister, Karen Goheen ( Roger ) of Wellston; three brothers : Dallas Rife ( Donna ) and Joe Rife ( Jane ) of Wellston, and Jimmy Dean Rife ( Karen ) of Oak Hill; an uncle, Melvin Cleland ( Joyce ) of Lima, Ohio; several nieces and nephews; a very close friend, Mitchel; and his beloved " guard dog,"Stormy. Family and friends may gather for viewing and sharing memories on Saturday from 12 to 3 P.M. at the Jenkins Funeral Chapel in Wellston.
