You may have seen this lovely lady sitting on her front porch at her well manicured home in Wellston, Ohio, or dining out with her friends, or attending a softball game at Rio Grande University, or at a football game in the Horseshoe at Ohio State, or at her great grandchildren's school events, or sitting in the congregation of the First Presbyterian Church of Wellston where she was an active Elder up until March of this year. How we will remember her best times, her laughter, her song, and her good life while she was strong. Gladys F. Ankrom, 88, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 30, 2022, surrounded by her family, at Jenkins Care Community in Wellston. She was born in Glenroy, Ohio, July 13, 1934, daughter of the late Glen R. Long and Bessie Hamilton Long. She was a 1952 graduate of Coalton High School and married the love of her life, Joseph Henry Ankrom, who passed away on July 6, 2015. She retired from Buckeye Automatic in McArthur, Ohio, following 37 years as the administrative manager. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Harold Hammond of Jackson; her grandson and his wife, Christopher and Michelle Hammond of Jackson; and her three great grandchildren, whom she loved caring for, Raylene, Braxton, and Keagan Hammond, all of Jackson. Friends may call at the Jenkins Funeral Chapel in Wellston on Tuesday from 4 until 8 P.M. Services, officiated by John Pelletier CLP, will be Wednesday at 1:00 P.M. at the First Presbyterian Church of Wellston. Burial will follow in the RIdgewood Cemetery in Wellston. The family sincerely thanks the Jenkins Care Community staff and the National Church Residences Hospice for their unending attention to Gladys while she was in the nursing facility.
