Delbert L. Beckner, 89, of Hamden, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday May 23, 2018, surrounded by his family, at Edgewood Manor of Wellston. He was born near Petroleum in Ritchie County, West Virginia, on January 9, 1929, to the late Thomas S. Beckner and Helen Nutter Beckner. He was a veteran of the US Army Air Force and served a tour of duty in post WWII Germany during his military service. Delbert was the long time owner and operator of Beckner's TV Service in Wellston. He was an avid private pilot in the 1960's. He was a Life Member of American Legion Post #371 of Wellston. Delbert enjoyed camping, motorcycling, fishing, and carpentry in his spare time throughout his life. He attended the Puritan Freewill Baptist Church and Lake View Baptist Church in Hamden. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Peggy Beckner; his second wife, Joyce Beckner; and a brother, Douglas Beckner. He is survived by two sons, Jim ( Kit) Beckner and Greg ( Diane) Beckner, both of Hamden; two grandchildren, Stephanie ( Brian) Speakman of Hamden and Jim Beckner of Allensville; six great grandchildren; two brothers, Paul Beckner of Walker, WV, and Howard Beckner of Grafton, WV; and a sister, Mary Long, of Parkersburg, WV. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 4 until 7 P.M. at the Jenkins Funeral Chapel in Wellston. Services will be Wednesday at 11:00 A.M. at the Jenkins Chapel with Pastor Jamie Fortner officiating. Burial will follow in the Hamden Cemetery with Military Honors by Post # 371 of Wellston and DAV Chapter 45. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Delbert's memory be made to The Sons of the American Legion, Post #371, 1001 South Pennsylvania Avenue, Wellston, Ohio, 45692.
