Daniel Eugene Walton, 78, was born in Wellston, Ohio, to the late Everett and Lucille Wetzel Walton. He graduated from WHS in 1955 and attended OU. He was very active in many aspects, including owning and operating his Texaco stations, his coal mine, his bar in Wellston, and raising and racing his horses. He was faithful to his south end of Wellston heritage , the sports programs at WHS, and his church, Lakeview Baptist Chapel. He was an active supporter of the Jackson County Republican Party and was awarded the Man of the Year by Wellston Chamber of Commerce for his valiant efforts to clear the roads during the unforgettable blizzard of 1977-1978. He leaves his two sons, Daniel Eugene ( Rebecca) Walton II of Wellston and David Everett Walton of Sunbury; daughters Diana Jane ( Chuck) Petrie of Newark and Dana Jill ( Bill) Davis of Mt. Vernon; brother, George ( Naomi) Walton of Portsmouth and sister, Jayne Walton Arthur of Wellston; 7 grandchildren, Joel, Jade, and James Walton, Krista and Lexa Petrie, and Billy and Sarah Davis; and several great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. The family suggests memorials in Danny's name be made to the Coach Derrow Scholarship c/o Wellston City Schools, 1 East Broadway, Wellston, Ohio 45692. And
